I loved the Chiropractic Concept

Dr. Sally Dawson (Chiropractor)

The very first time I had ever heard of the word ‘chiropractic’ was when my Dad booked our whole family in for a spinal health check when I was 18 years old. Dr David Backhouse in Auckland must have done a great job of explaining chiropractic because on that first visit I decided that this is where my future lay. I loved the concept of empowering the body to heal itself from the inside out, assisting the all important nervous system. Three months later I was flying over to South Carolina, to Sherman College of Chiropractic in the USA, following the advice of some chiropractors I had met in Auckland. I had no idea of what a culture shock was in store for me! What a great experience.

Chiropractic Made so Much Sense to Me

Chiropractic made so much sense to me, maximising peoples potential for life through working with their nervous system, sounded like a fabulous way to help people.

Chiropractic Education

Chiropractic education requires 4 years full time training covering a wide range of subjects including, anatomy, biochemistry, bio-mechanics, neurology, philosophy, physics, physiology, radiography and radiology. One great thing about going to Sherman was the passion people felt for chiropractic, another was the wide range of cultures that came from all around the world. In our class we had several French, Iranian, Mexican, Australian and New Zealand students along with Americans.

After graduating we went to Dublin, Ireland to live for nearly 5 years. At that time there were only twelve chiropractors in the entire country so it was exciting, pioneering work. We then moved back to Nelson, New Zealand.

Chiropractic enhances the quality of life for the entire family.

Whatever your age, Chiropractic can enhance your life.

Chiropractic enhances the quality of life at any age!

Can you move your body easily? It is very important to have a properly moving and aligned spine. The spinal joints are the main source of sensory movement affecting coordination, learning ability, memory, mental and emotional clarity.

Stress patterns are often stored in the spine and can cause subluxations or joint dysfunctions. These can not only restrict your spinal movement but cause interference with brain to body communication therefore limiting your self-healing ability and potential for health and vitality.

Using Chiropractic techniques acquired from extensive training and practice, we are able to not only help heal your body but empower your mind on its journey towards health and vitality, making the world a better place, one spine at a time.

I love people!

That is one of the big reasons why I still enjoy my work as a chiropractor so much, I still get excited seeing people start to regain their health, and to see the very real changes that occur under chiropractic care.

In my practise I am committed to giving attentive, caring service. My certainty in your body’s ability to heal is greater than any doubt you feel about your ability to change. We aim to empower people to be able to move more comfortably, to feel more healthy and happy. I love checking spines of all ages, from a couple of days old, to more mature spines in their 90’s.

I am a mum who is lucky enough to have 2 teenage daughters, whom I am very close to, who are now independent and on their own life adventures.

New Zealand is a wonderful country and I love being outside, walking, kayaking and going horse riding most weeks with a good friend over spectacular farmland and around the coastline.

Gardening is one of my passions, and I have been evolving the front garden at work for the past 18 years. My philosophy has always been that I want my work place to be healing from the moment people step in the gate.

Every Tuesday I set aside time for art in the morning. I enjoy making time to be creative. I frequently visit the library and am an avid reader.

For many years, our family has consciously eaten unprocessed, when possible, organic foods – growing some of our own herbs, vegetables and fruit. Fresh food, exercise and having special people in your life all help to make for a great balance in life, even when times get tough. We consciously chose to not vaccinate our girls and have given them minimal painkillers, using natural methods to enhance our health when possible. All of us regularly experience the benefit of chiropractic care and notice the positive difference to our health and well being.
